Martyn Williams is an experienced general manager, venture capitalist and faculty member of London Business School, where he is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Foundation for Entrepreneurial Management. He lectures in the field of venture capital, private equity, entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship.. He is an active angel investor and holds a number of for-profit non-exec positions and is a trustee of Unltd, a £100m individually focussed Social Entrepreneurial Fund. Between 2001-2 he facilitated negotiations between UK Government and a consortium of substantial property and entertainment companies that led to a J/V masterplan to redevelop the London Dome and the adjacent 260 acre site in Greenwich, London.
Prior to graduating from LBS in 1990, Martyn’s career had been in commercial and investment banking with Robert Fleming & Co and Midland Bank. After graduating from LBS Martyn spent three years as an investment manager at 3i, where he was responsible for a portfolio of 40 investments. He then spent 5 years turning around Bailey Newspaper Group, a newspaper publisher and general printer. After implementing an acquisition strategy, the company was successfully sold to Southern Newspapers Plc in 1997.
Martyn has throughout his career been an active private investor across a number of sectors. Martyn’s areas of interest include complex transactions, valuations and exit strategies.
