There are many large funds on the market which closed during stronger economic times and
have not yet been fully invested. Fund managers are more cautious than they were in the
past due to lessons learned from the high number of failed investments in the past three
years. At the same time, attractive early stage companies are not being founded at the
same pace they were when these funds were closed. These factors have resulted in relatively
low fund performance and a large amount of stagnant capital. This panel will address various
approaches to making investments in the current economic climate, and the results of these
approaches on the venture capital industry and the European market in general.
