Technology Panel

We are pleased to announce that the following people will be speaking on the Technology Panel:

Simon Acland, Director, Quester
Danny Rimer, Partner, Index Partners
David Carratt, Managing Director, Kennet Venture Partners
Peter Sturn, Business Development Director, Add Partners

The panel is to be moderated by:
Charles Irving, Partner, Pond Ventures

The panel discussion will revolve around the following sub-themes:

For too long the Venture Capital returns in Europe have lagged those of the U.S. Given the close ties between Venture Capital and Technology, the Panel will address the question on how different the market in Europe is compared to the US and how this is likely to change in the future. It will also discuss whether ‘Silicon-Style’ of investment will work in the European context. On a distantly related note, the Panel will discuss whether the support extended by VC firms is consistent with emerging patterns in the market and how it is actually fostering entrepreneurship in the technology space.

With investors pressing for better returns from Venture Capital as an asset class, the Panel will debate on how the industry in Europe will re-invent itself to live up to expectations while ensuring that it caters to the technology market? What new sectors of technology will it look at and does it have the appetite for investing in Telecoms.

Apart from addressing the above questions, the Panel also will assess the extent of preparedness required for Venture Capital to be a formidable asset class in the near future.
