Mr. Hutchins is a founder and managing member of Silver Lake Partners (SLP), the leading investment firm focused on private equity investments in the technology industry. With $5.9 billion in committed capital, SLP seeks to achieve superior financial returns by investing with the strategic insights of an experienced industry participant, the operating advantages of a world-class manager, and the return objectives of a disciplined financial investor.


Mr. Hutchins has spent his business career in private equity. Prior to founding Silver Lake, Mr. Hutchins was a Senior Managing Director and General Partner of the Blackstone Group, L.P. and a Managing Director of Thomas H. Lee Company.

Mr. Hutchins is also active in public and charitable service. Between his stints at THL and Blackstone, Mr. Hutchins served President Clinton in both the transition and the White House as a Special Advisor on economic and healthcare policy. After leaving government, Mr. Hutchins was appointed by President Clinton to chair an initiative on privatization in the former Soviet Union and by Secretary Rubin to serve on the Treasury Department’s Advisory Committee on Financial Services.

Mr. Hutchins is a director of Seagate Technology, Ameritrade Holding Corp., the NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc., Instinet Holdings Inc., and Chairman of the Board of SunGard Capital Corp. Mr. Hutchins is a co-owner and Member of the Executive Committee of the Boston Celtics basketball team. He is also a Trustee and Chairman of the Capital Campaign of the Lawrenceville School and a Trustee of both the Brookings Institution and the New York Presbyterian Hospital, and a co-chair of Harvard’s Task Force on University Finance. Mr. Hutchins is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the World Economic Forum.

Mr. Hutchins graduated from Harvard College, Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School.

Danny Rimer

Danny Rimer joined Index Ventures in 2002 and established the firm’s London office. His investment interests include Internet infrastructure software and services. He currently serves on the boards of Fon, MySQL, Oanda, Sourcelabs, Spot Runner, Stardoll, Video Island and Zend. He previously was a director of Betfair, KVS (now Veritas), Mediasurface (AIM: MSR), Neoteris (now Juniper) and Skype (now eBay). Prior to joining Index, Danny was a general partner of The Barksdale Group, where he invested in a dozen companies including CrossGain (now BEA), myCFO (now Bank of Montreal), Ofoto (now Kodak) and TellMe. Prior to joining The Barksdale Group, Danny was Managing Director in Hambrecht & Quist’s (now JP Morgan) Equity Research Group and was responsible for the firm’s Internet practice. At H&Q, Danny was the underwriting analyst for companies including Amazon, CheckPoint, CNET, Netscape, and Verisign. He also sponsored direct investments in over 20 companies. He holds an A.B from Harvard College.
